World Food Day Celebration @ ABI, CoA Vellanikkara

The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) Agribusiness Incubator celebrated World Food Day 2025 through “Food Spark: Igniting Ideas for Tomorrow”, an ideathon that inspired innovation and entrepreneurship in the food sector.

Inaugurated by Dr. Binoo P. Bonny, Director of Extension, KAU, the event featured expert talks by Dr. K.P. Sudheer, Head, KAU-ABI, and Dr. Ammu Dinakaran, Manager, KAU-ABI, on Future Foods and Trends in Food Packaging—highlighting opportunities aligned with the theme “Hand in hand for better food and a better future.” Over 130 students and young entrepreneurs participated, showcasing creative food product concepts in the New Product Development Ideathon. The first prize of ₹20,000 was won by Musaliar College of Engineering and Polytechnic, Trivandrum, followed by Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, and Musaliar College again in third place.

Dr. Mani Chellappan, Dean, College of Agriculture, KAU, delivered the valedictory address. Guest speakers Mr. Muhammed Kunju, CEO, Grain N Grace, and Dr. Sureshkumar P.K., Executive Committee Member, KAU, commended the participants for their innovative ideas. Dr. K.P. Sudheer noted that the event served as a vibrant platform for young innovators to explore the future of food, fostering creativity and sustainable entrepreneurship for a better tomorrow.
